Ready For The Weekend?

I know you're winding down and ready for some good ol’ family time, but I just couldn’t wait to get this into your hands, not when you can start seeing changes in your life before Monday ever gets here!

I’ve been getting lots of questions about managing work and life, especially when in the trenches of building a business as a mom.

I clearly remember rushing the kiddos off to nap time on a Saturday so I could write 5 sentences of an email or closing that door at bedtime and rushing off to record a video for the week (😂 totally ignoring the bags under my eyes, mind you).

So here's my tip to you...

The Power of Three: List just three goals per day. Finish them and reward yourself.

Assign 3 goals per day, leaving one day free *your cushion so that if something (usually will its life) happens, you're not stressing about ‘getting behind’ so you can actually enjoy time away from the computer, feel accomplished and not mentally running through your to-do list while watching bluey, or distantly saying 'mhm' when your kid asks if you like their lopsided unicorn drawing cuz your running thru the list of what you need to do tomorrow in your head.

I know it is easier said than done, but this is what I tend to do:

1. List out all the things on your mind, brain dump that sucker! Get it all out on paper, all the things that 'need' to be done
2. On a blank sheet of paper, draw a giant plus sign + then write above the

• 1st Column: Big Impact
• 2nd Column: Less Impact
• 1st Row: Has a deadline
• 2nd Row: Has No Deadline

This tends to help me initially sort out my massive to-do lists

Other times I will list it all out, organize by the area of my life, such as work, kids, household, etc.

Then, Number them from biggest impact to least impact.

(What will happen or be affected if I don't get this done ASAP? will I leave Sally waiting for me at Starbucks for an hr because I didn't print out her workbook in time, so I'm late, or will my cat keep scratching cardboard for another day until I fix her scratching post)

Then I pick the top 3.

You might be thinking, but what if I must get more than the initial 3 done today?

No worries! Treat it like Disney World's old fast pass system: use up the first 3 slots, then continue one by one on a rolling basis.

So when a slot frees up because you've completed your task, feel free to add the next one, you will be super surprised by how something so simple as only seeing 3 things on a list snuffs out that overwhelm and motivates you as you mark off those tasks, even when u add 3 more, that sense of accomplishment and progress carries the momentum to keep you going!

If it's plotted out ahead of time, then you don’t need to think about it as much.

The hard part of 'what should I be doing' is already done, so you can feel focus that energy on just doing the dang thing.
